Intro 11a - 737 Max Crashes
OPENING QUESTIONS:
- How many numbered versions of the 737 did Boeing produce?
- When was the first version produced?
- The 737 MAX was designed and manufactured by Boeing in the 2010's. Why was that plane designed? Why didn't Boeing just build a brand new plane?
OBJECTIVES:
- I will be able to describe the motion of the 737 Max aircraft that led to the two crashes experienced by Lion Air (December, 2018) and Ethiopia Airlines (January, 2019) during today's class.
- I will be able to outline the technical errors that led to those crashes after today's class
- I will be able to explain the engineering & communication problems at Boeing that led to those crashes after today's class

Please take a few moments to review this graph (It will be helpful to review yesterday's research HERE)

We need to get a bit technical now.
Keep in mind that Boeing and Airbus' customers wanted <WHAT?> in their new commercial jets more than anything else?
Now let's talk about how that effected the design of the 737 Aircraft.
═════════════════════════
Let's skim THIS article (Espagnol) on the 737 Max and see if there are any bits that we don't already know about. If you find on those interesting tidbits please do jot it down!

Now let's do one of my favorite activities.
Before we do that please take one of the paper strips and in 3 words at most write down a place in the world you would like to visit
Now that we know what those strips will look like (NICE AND BIG SO EVERYONE CAN SEE)
Please write down key aspects of the 737 MAX situation that you think are critical to understanding what happened (3 WORDS AT MOST):
- From the documentary we watched
- From the article we just skimmed
- From your own background knowledge
